American Flag Cupcakes

I would like to dedicate this recipe to all the men and women who have served our country.  In honor of our soldiers I thought it would be nice to try something patriotic.  These have a decadent taste that offer that true cupcake shop taste you are used to paying $4 per cupcake for.  Search no more, I will teach you how to make these cute cupcakes.  There are three reasons why I think you should try this recipe.

  • This recipe can be used with any colors so swap them out for other major holidays.
  • These cupcakes are mini so you won’t have calorie remorse while biting into one.
  • In this recipe I incorporated 2 unique ingredient’s that make it uh-mazing:
I talk about it on Facebook live below.

    1) Goat Milk:

If you have never tried goat milk, here’s are a few reasons to try it, plus the taste is so creamy and good you will be hooked.

    2) Apple Sauce:

I use apple sauce to moisten (hate that word) my desserts AND it’s a great way to reduce some of the butter fat.  Let me be clear…I’m not saying to replace all the butter fat but there is some fat your taste buds (and thighs) will not miss.  🙂

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large cage free eggs at room temperature.
  • ⅔ cups sugar
  • 5 oz of melted european butter
  • 2 oz. of applesauce
  • 1 vanilla bean (2 teaspoons vanilla extra)
  • ½ cup of goat milk

  • 1 package (8oz) cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • ¼ cup of goat milk
  • Food coloring to be used for the frosting (red & Blue)

DIRECTIONS:  View Tutorial here

  1. Whisk flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. In another bowl mix sugar and eggs for about 2 minutes (until you reach a foamy appearance), then add your vanilla bean (leaving behind the skin).
  3. Next, add your melted butter, applesauce and vanilla bean.
  4. Gradually add your dry ingredients into the egg mixture, finally add in your goat milk until well blended (but do not over mix).
  5. Next it’s time to divide the batter into 3 bowls so that each one will represent red, blue and white.
  6. Add up to 8 drops of food coloring for red and blue, the white batter remains as is.  Place each color into a sandwich bag, cutting the ends of the bag to be used to fill the cupcake liners.
  7. Place a dollop of the white batter on the bottom, next add a layer of red frosting and finally top it off with the blue batter.
  8. Add into 350 degree oven for 15-18 mins (stick a toothpick in the middle, if it comes out clean it is ready!)

  1. Combine and blend cream cheese, sugar and goat milk until it becomes a creamy texture.
  2. Once your cupcakes have baked using a piping bag insert the tip into the center of the cupcake and fill to the top.

  1. The frosting is the same recipe as the cream cheese filling, so make another batch of the cream cheese filling and divide the frosting into 3 parts, placing into 3 separate bowls and adding the food coloring again as you did with the batter.
  2. Place each color into one wilton piping bag next to each other.  Your frosting should come out as American flag swirl. P1020181
